VOOPOO DRAG 4 Kit Review 2025

The VOOPOO DRAG 4 kit is a cool gadget from VOOPOO, a brand that many vapers know well. Over the years, VOOPOO has had both successes and failures. They became popular with the original DRAG mod because it was affordable, well-made, and worked great. However, their follow-up product, the DRAG 2, was a letdown, causing them to lose some of their fans, although they still have a loyal following.

Now, VOOPOO has introduced the DRAG 4 kit, and everyone is eager to see if it can bring back the magic of the original DRAG mod. The DRAG 4 is a complete dual-18650 mod and sub-ohm tank kit. In a market flooded with pods and all-in-one devices, it is refreshing to see a more advanced device, even though dual-battery mods are not as popular as they used to be.

The DRAG 4 mod boasts an impressive 177-watt output and features stylish wooden or resin battery panels and a leather backing. The tank included in the kit is the UFORCE-L, the latest in the UFORCE line and it uses PNP coils for a top-notch vaping experience.

VooPoo DRAG 4 Box Mod Kit Best Value

The VooPoo DRAG 4 Box Mod Kit is a sturdy and stylish vaping device made of leather and zinc alloy. It uses two high-power 18650 batteries (not included) and can output between 5W to 177W. The mod has a fast-firing speed, various modes like ECO and SMART, and features a bright, colorful screen. It includes a Type-C charging port and a reliable 510 connection. This mod is designed for up to 650+ puffs for non-stop vaping fun.

First Look

When it comes to VOOPOO mods, my feelings have been like a roller coaster ride with ups and downs. I really liked what the original DRAG mod had to offer but the DRAG 2 was a letdown, and I did not try the DRAG 3, which was actually an all-in-one device and not a regular mod. So when I checked out the DRAG 4, I looked closely for any quality problems I had seen before, and luckily, I did not find any this time. The paint job is great and wasn’t chipping or peeling off.

The mod feels really well-made. It is a lot like the popular original DRAG mod and much better than the DRAG 2. The battery door fits perfectly and the battery tray makes it easy to switch batteries. It seems like they fixed the problems that the DRAG 2 had. Another thing I liked is that they got rid of the big DRAG logo that I thought was tacky on the older versions. Now, it is a small and classy logo. Overall, I was pretty impressed with the DRAG 4 mod.

Vape Design

VOOPOO DRAG 4 Kit

When you hold the DRAG 4, it feels really solid and well-made. It is a bit heavy which makes it feel strong and durable. The DRAG 4 looks stylish, much like the earlier DRAG mods but with a touch of elegance. I checked its weight myself and without batteries, it weighs 153.5 grams. With batteries, it is 249.2 grams. It feels like it can handle some accidental drops without breaking.

The fire button is actually a simple circle on the top front of the DRAG 4 mod. Right below the fire button, there is a screen that shows important information. Below the screen, there are up and down buttons and a special lock slider that I really like. At the bottom, there is a Type-C charging port for easy charging.

The mod has a large, colorful screen that is bright and easy to see. It looks great and is about one inch in size. It is not a tiny mod but it is a good size for a device that uses two 18650 batteries. The 510 pin works perfectly with any atomizer and the tank that comes with it fits nicely and looks awesome. The included tank is 25.5 mm in diameter and fits perfectly on the mod. It seems like the largest size you can use without any overhang is 26 mm.

The battery door is a magnetic plate that makes up the back half of the mod. It is easy to pull off and has strong magnets so it fits perfectly. The door has a protective coating and a battery warning on it.

There are six color options in total. Three of them have resin panels, and three have wood panels. All six come with leather backing. The resin options have a gunmetal body and come in ocean blue (blue resin with blue leather), forest green (green and black resin with black leather), and tropical orange (orange and black resin with black leather). The wood options have different body colors: pale gold with walnut, black with walnut, and gunmetal with rosewood. I got the black with walnut and it looks sleek and classy. The wood panels feel great and the leather is thick and soft. From the pictures, I really like the forest green resin option too.

DRAG 4 Mod Using

The DRAG 4 is a pretty straightforward mod to use. It has a fire button, up and down buttons, and a lock slider. Here’s how to use it:

  • Turning it On/Off – Click the fire button 5 times to turn the mod on or off.
  • Adjusting Wattage or Temperature – Push the up or down buttons to change the wattage or temperature.
  • Entering the Menu – Hold the up and down buttons together to enter the menu.
  • Switching between Fahrenheit and Celsius – In TC (temperature control) mode, use the fire button and down button together to switch from Fahrenheit (F) to Celsius (C).
  • Adjusting Wattage in TC Mode – In TC mode, use the fire button and up button together to adjust the wattage (up to 80 watts).

In the menu, you can do a few things:

  • Change Mode – Switch between different modes.
  • Program the Lock Slider – Set what the lock slider does.
  • Reset Your Puffs – Reset the puff counter.
  • Change Screen Color – Pick a new screen color. There are 5 options: classic, green, yellow, purple, and pink.

The screen shows important information like the wattage, a puff counter, a battery meter (with individual percentages, which is cool), resistance, puff timer, and voltage output.

About Performance

Here are the VOOPOO DRAG 4 Kit Power mode performance and Temperature control performance details.

Power Mode Performance

I tested the DRAG 4 mod using Sony VCT5A batteries. They only listed two maximum outputs: 177 watts and 8.4 volts. They did not mention amps on their site or in the manual and I wish they did.

During my tests, the highest wattage I got was 189, which is great since it’s rated at 177 watts. The highest amp limit I got was 40 with a 0.1-ohm coil, which is normal for dual-18650 battery mods. The highest voltage I got was 7.163, which means there is no boost circuit (though it’s not needed for dual battery mods). Even though the 8.4V listed is theoretical and not reached, the mod still performs well without a boost circuit. A more accurate voltage rating would be 7.5V. Overall, it works well in power (RBA) mode and is pretty accurate, being only a few watts off in the ranges most people will use.

The mod adjusts in full-watt increments and scrolls fast but it does not go back to the start when it reaches the end, which is not a big deal.

Regarding the charge rate, they list it at 5V/3A. Most cellphone chargers are up to 2A, so that is what I used for testing. The highest charge rate I got was 1.57A, which is good but it should have been closer to the 2A max if the 3A rating were accurate. It also seems to charge each battery separately in cycles, which is nice, but it does not charge as fast as expected based on the specs. I think it is a bit overrated. It is always better to use an external charger and swap out batteries instead of charging in the mod or waiting.

There is no passthrough vaping on this device, which VOOPOO seems to leave out on most of their devices. On the positive side, it shows individual battery percentages while charging, which is nice.

Temperature Control Performance

I tested the temperature control (TC) mode on the DRAG 4 using SS316 wire and it worked pretty well. You can only go up to 80 watts so you can not use it for high-power builds. But if you keep your builds at 60 watts or less, it works fine. The hits were smooth and consistent and it had good protection against dry hits. I found that it gave warm hits at 440°F, which is pretty accurate.

Not many affordable companies offer good temp control features nowadays and even when they did, only a few did it well. The DRAG 4 is a good choice if you want to try out temp control without spending a lot of money on a mod.

Features

The DRAG 4 comes with lots of cool modes. It has three power modes and four temperature control modes. Many people now prefer simpler mods, pods, and AIOs (all-in-one devices) so it is nice to see that some companies still make temperature control options for those who use them.

For power modes, there are three options: RBA, Eco, and Smart. RBA is the normal power mode which I think should be called just that. Eco mode is supposed to save battery life but it only works if you vape less or use less power, which does not make much sense. Smart mode sets a safe wattage range based on the resistance of the coils so you do not use too much or too little power. Honestly, I think only the RBA mode is needed, along with preheat options and a watt curve mode.

For temperature control, there are four options: Ni (Nickel), Ti (Titanium), SS316, and SS430 (both Stainless Steel types). However, Ni and Ti are not used much these days, so just having SS316, SS430, and a custom TCR mode would be fine. Still, it has all the basic options you might need.

One of my favorite features is the lock slider right below the screen. You can slide it up and down. When you slide it down, it locks the device, and when you slide it up, it unlocks it. Through the menu, you can choose what the lock does. There are three options: lock just the adjustment buttons (but still allow firing), completely lock the mod (so it can’t fire or be adjusted), or make it an on-off switch without needing to click five times.

I like using it as a full lock so I can put it in my pocket without worrying about it firing. Lock sliders are great and should become standard on mods, but for now, it’s a fantastic feature that not many mods have.

UFORCE-L Tank Rundown

Let’s talk about the tank that comes with the DRAG 4 kit. It is called the UFORCE-L, the newest in their line of UFORCE tanks. This tank has plug-and-play coils and three top-airflow slots. The coils are from the PNP line which are used in other UFORCE tanks and some pod tanks so some people might already know them.

The tank comes in three colors: black, gunmetal, and silver. I got the black one, and it matches the frame of the mod in the kit. The drip tip (the part you put your mouth on) is a standard wide-bore 810 drip tip. It can hold up to 5.5 mL of eLiquid, thanks to the included bubble tank. You fill it by turning the top halfway, like a switchblade, which is super easy and convenient. The tank has some weight and feels sturdy with good threading.

To replace the vape coil you unscrew the tank base and pop the coil out. The coil sticks out enough so you can pull it out easily without any tools. I had no trouble doing it myself.

This tank is for Direct Lung (DL) vaping, and it works best in the medium wattage range of about 40-80 watts. The kit includes two coil options but there are a total of eight available (plus an RBA option). The two coils included are:

PNP-TW15 0.15-ohm mesh coil (55 to 70 watts)

PNP-TW20 0.20-ohm mesh coil (40 to 55 watts)

I tried both coils, but I was not very impressed. Top airflow tanks are known for not being great for flavor (even ones that route airflow to the bottom like this one) but are mainly made to prevent leaks. I have tried many top-airflow tanks and this one has weak flavor performance. The 0.15-ohm coil at 65 watts was the best performance I got from this tank, but even then, the flavor was muted and light.

Overall, it is a well-built tank that looks nice and is easy to use, but the flavor just is not that great, even for what it is.

Last Words

The DRAG 4 is a really good mod, just like the original DRAG. Thankfully, it not not disappointing like the DRAG 2. It works well, it is built well and even has good temp control. It is a great choice if you want a device that looks nice and performs well. Also, it is especially good if you want a solid temp control mode at a good price, which is getting rare these days.

However, the tank did not impress me. I would not recommend spending extra money for the kit with the tank, as there are better options for sub ohm tanks out there.
